Plants make and use amino acids to build proteins and carry out essential metabolic processes. Amino-containing ingredients are included in some biostimulants because their role can extend beyond a simple nitrogen declaration.
The source and the way the ingredient is prepared help determine what is actually in it.
What is a protein hydrolysate
A protein hydrolysate is produced by breaking proteins into smaller components, including peptides and amino acids. The balance of those components depends on the raw material and the processing method.
That matters when comparing products. A figure for total amino acids and a figure for free amino acids are not describing precisely the same thing.
What researchers have studied
Evidence needs to identify the tested material, crop, dose and conditions. An ingredient study does not establish how ÉLAN will perform in every grow.
What we look for
Our preference is for plant-derived sources with a clear composition. We want to understand the amino profile, the balance of free amino acids and peptides, the processing and any relevant salts or accompanying nutrients.
We do not treat a higher headline percentage as the whole decision. The material has to suit the formulation and the way the finished product will be used.
Where you will meet them
ÉLAN includes amino acids among its complementary ingredient categories. Read its product page for the all-stage role and the feeding guide for application.
